The SEO Strategy to Getting You Organized
January 11, 20163rd “SEO” Strategy Project: My Cosmetics Drawer
January 25, 2016Today’s blog is by our newest team member, Kristen Badowski, Production Coordinator
I hope you enjoyed last week’s first peek into my journey to accomplish 3 one-hour projects in January. The second space I applied the “Sort, Edit and Organize” strategy to this month…the big shelving unit in our garage.
I’m sure all of you know exactly what I’m talking about when I say that things just seem to multiply and take up all of the floor space available in the garage. We are guilty of letting it get so bad that we couldn’t walk easily between the back door and my car. Now you might be thinking…”Kristen, how could you let that happen?!” Well, that’s what the little voice inside my head was saying before I decided to put a stop to this terrible situation.
Exhibit one: “Garage Shelves Before”
Since I was determined to reestablish the walking path in front of our shelves, I made this area my top priority. I quickly got to work using the SEO strategy:
-
Sort: Group like items together. I looked through the items that had accumulated in the piles on the floor and grouped them into categories like sports equipment, Cub Scout/ camping related items, fall decor, and gardening items.
-
Edit: Remove broken, worn-out and unwanted items. For us it meant donating some Christmas and Halloween decor we no longer wanted and donating some old sports equipment that the kids no longer use.
-
Organize: I utilized the containers I had and consolidated the remaining items into each container. Since I had already “edited” the shelves, there was enough space to put some of the containers that were previously on the floor up on the shelving unit. This allowed me to clear almost all of the floor space in front of the shelves. I could probably further organize these shelves, but I was just trying to stay within my one hour time limit. Mission accomplished!
Exhibit two: “Garage Shelves After”
Yes! Another quick, one hour project under my belt. This could get addicting. Let’s see the completed garage shelves one more time, from a slightly different angle.
Please join me again next week for the 3rd SEO strategy project this month….mycosmetics drawer!
