Ah the linen closet. The place where towels, wash clothes, hand towels, king, queen & twin sheets & blankets, beach towels, pillows and anything else you can shove in there is stored. You might even have your grandmother’s hand-made quilt somewhere in the mix.
Stop the chaos! The linen closet is a place where even a guest can find what they need. Here’s 4 easy steps to make it a closet even Martha Stewart would love.

- Place most used items like sheets & towels at eye-level
- Place rarely used items like extra pillows & blankets up high
- Place moderately used items like throws down low
- Then label your shelves so everyone knows what’s a king set vs a twin set
- Don’t Go Overboard…This isn’t a Cruise Ship
- You only really need a set of sheets on each bed and one in the closet.
- A blanket for summer & winter.
- A few extra pillows for guests.
- Leftovers
- Any non-linen items that don’t fit, need a new place to live either in your home or someone else’s home.

Scrutinize you linens as you sort & fold them with eyes of a guest. Do they have frayed edges? Are they faded or worn looking? If so, maybe it’s time to let them go for a newer version. Yes…..I just gave you permission to go shopping!
