October 12, 2015OMG! I want one of these! This kitchen is amazing; lots of countertop space, guest space, lots of BIG drawers, lots of drawers in general, ample cabinets, incredible natural light, beautiful range/hood/backsplash and wood floors. Sign me up.
This kitchen can hold just about every major kitchen appliance, serving pieces & then some. And if you don’t like the traditional style, there’s a modern kitchen out there for you just like this one…..but modern. Anyway, most everyone covets a glorious kitchen like this. What if you don’t have one or duh duh duuuuhhhhh you have to downsize? A dear friend’s mother is downsizing right now as I write this & doesn’t have room for everything she relies on & is used to having in her kitchen.
Let me just take a moment for those of you who do have a kitchen like this to say, please don’t tell the rest of us & certainly don’t tell us you don’t have room for everything. We might not have empathy.
For the rest of us, there are 5 ways to make more space in your kitchen cabinets & drawers.
-
MULTI-PURPOSE APPLIANCES Stop buying an appliance for a single task. Find ones that do 2 or more tasks eliminating one or more appliances.
-
SEASONAL IS OUT Pack seasonal serving pieces/utensils that can handle the attic heat away with that season. Why work around the huge turkey platter all year?
-
USE SERVING PIECES FOR EVERYDAY STORAGE Instead of storing non-seasonal trays, platters, bowls, etc you typically only use for company, put them to work in their “off” time holding the mail, magazines, etc.
-
BE GOURMET If you have the space, hang your pots & pans because it will make you look like a chef & they’re easier to retrieve. The latter is really the main reason.
-
NEST, NEST, NEST The birds do it so why shouldn’t your kitchen items when possible. Especially for rarely used items.
