I understand from a good friend of mine (who will remain anonymous) that some people consider October 15th the official tax filing day. If this is KEY for you as well, you only have 2 days to file your 2013 taxes with the IRS.
Yikes!
Here are 5 things to make this easier:
-
Schedule uninterrupted time to focus on the task w/breaks & snacks
a. Focused time = done faster
-
File online: Whether you file on your own or with a CPA, this is THE way
b. Why give the IRS more of your time & gas money by going to the post office?
-
Follow the Tax Filing Checklist from the IRS. They should know!
c. Take some of the thinking out of this by following their list
-
File tax form & receipts in an expandable or file case for easy reference later
d. This will insure the IRS won’t need to see these-Murphy’s Law
-
Tired of filing your taxes, find a CPA now to be ready for next year
e. They have a college education & continued education in tax laws
This is probably one of the most dreaded tasks we face each year. It won’t go away until the other most certain thing happens to you – death. So when you are grumbling through the paperwork remember the alternative & keep pushing through.
