I’m a CPO®!!!
Most of you probably don’t know what that is or stands for, but it’s something I have worked very hard to achieve. Those 3 little letters sure don’t look like much! They look more substantial after my name where they belong; Leticia Pfeiffer, CPO®.
Yep, I’m a Certified Professional Organizer®. (Can you see the huge smile lighting up my face?)
Pretty frequently, I am asked about my qualifications for what I do. My website lays out how I carefully picked a degree that would give me the higher education I desired for an industry just forming; Fashion Merchandising now called Apparel Merchandising. Since I prefer to have spaces stylishly organized & wanted to own my own company, this degree gave me the business side with the art/fashion history & application side to create the best combination.
But the industry’s national organization has their own qualifications & education to receive the CPO® status. NAPO, National Association of Professional Organizers, requires any Professional Organizer to:
1. Have 3 years of paying clients
2. Have been paid for 1500 hours in that 3 year time period
3. Document each & every client; what area you organized, how long, rate charged, etc
4. Community involvement through your local NAPO Chapter
5. Professional Organizing work for free
6. Educational Credits from classes taken through NAPO National
This summer, I finally reached my 3 year/1500 hours goal! That sounds like a car warranty & maybe it is your warranty that I’m more than ready to help you get organized & live a better life. But that’s not all. All of those requirements only allow me to sit for the CPO® exam. I still had a two hour exam to pass!
So at the very end of June, I took the NAPO CPO® exam & waited. I filled my time organizing clients & friends homes & offices. Then this past week, I received my CPO® official paperwork in the mail. It felt like receiving my acceptance letter to Baylor, making the drill team each time, or finding out I just passed the hardest test ever & I would graduate.
I am a CPO® & am ready to pass along my knowledge to you because……Life is Better Organized!
