I am Thankful
November 19, 2012What Would Santa Do?
December 3, 2012Truth be told, I’m pretty much a rule follower. Well, maybe there are some rules I do have a habit of breaking but only my good friends know the ones I break. I actually like having some rules. They give me a game plan, they guide me & they can take away that terrible thing we all HATE to do…..decision making.
It’s true. No one really likes to make decisions. Your inner 5 year old self fights with your adult self keeping you from being able to decide. What if you make the wrong decision? What if you decide & then your decision makes you miss out on something else? If you say, “Yes.” to something, you are always saying, “No.” to something else. I have a friend who is part of a group of ladies who call themselves the FOMOs…Fear of Missing Out. I don’t know how they ever make a decision! Back to our questions. What if your decision will make someone else unhappy? What if no matter what your decision, you will be unhappy?
Here’s the problem with not making decisions. You miss out on life & it creates the clutter you despise.
So how can decision making become easier? Well, with a few rules you agree to follow. Here are a few to mull over. Start by picking just one & see how it changes your life for the better.
1. Don’t keep something that makes you feel bad or mad.
2.One thing in, One thing out.
3.Do one thing everyday to keep you organized.
4.Finish what you start.
5.Put things back where you found them. (You learned this in Kindergarten so it has to be a good one.)
6.Only check email 3 times each day.
7.Make your bed everyday. (No point in having expensive bedding if it is decorating the floor or chair)
8.If you haven’t worn it in a year, let it go.
9.Eliminate forgotten kitchen utensils after a year of no service.
10.Put keys, jacket, purse/wallet, sunglasses, shoes, packages, groceries away right when you walk in the door. (Ok, maybe a pit stop is allowed first.)
