HOLIDAY SEASON PREP: 4 STEPS TO CRAFTS ORGANIZATION
October 10, 2011Keep Your Craft Area Organized
October 24, 2011I’m sure your kids have come around while your are busy scrapbooking, beading, stamping, quilting, sewing, wood working, painting—doing one of your “for me” activities. They just wanted to help or touch all of your pretty tools & supplies. Admit it! Seeing them play with all of your expensive toys scares you to death. (—or even irritates you as you rush to complete a project in your limited time)
Why not give them crafts of their own and a place near you? Let this percolate for a moment.
Let’s list the reasons this might not work.
-
They could be distracting to your work if they are next to you.
-
They might still want to use some of your expensive & not kid friendly supplies and/or tools.
-
They might be too messy.
-
You might have to sit with them while they work to help.
Now let’s list the reasons it just might be a grand idea.
-
It would be fun having them work near you, especially when they get the hang of it.
-
They might have cool supplies & tools you would want to use.
-
Aren’t we all messy sometimes?
-
What a great experience to spend quality time & learn their talents.
Now that you’ve decided to create a craft area for your kids, look back at last week’s blog for the 4 Steps to Crafts Organization. Don’t forget to let your kids help. It will give them a sense of ownership & get them excited.
If you already have a craft area for your little ones, what was your Aha moment that helped you pick a place?
