First Day of School!
August 26, 2013Tips & Tricks for Keeping on Track
September 9, 2013Can it really happen?
With Labor Day celebrated, school has really begun. There’s no denying the routine, crazy busy schedules & loads of work….pun intended. Even if you don’t have kids at home, your daily commute is affected with more cars back on the road. How can you have a balanced life in the midst of a To List as long as a child’s excuses for not picking up their toys?
Recently, I heard Mark Petersen, Executive VP Business Development – Franklin Square Capital Partners, speak on just this topic. After year’s of coaching from his Life Coach, Mark determined that pure balance is impossible. Fluctuating balance in your life is not. Let me clarify.
Balance is just another term for priorities. All of our priorities fight for the #1 spot in our life. They can consist of kids, work, God, friends and even Facebook or hobbies. Anything we want or need to spend our time doing for whatever reason becomes a priority in our life. Each day, you must determine how to balance your priorities. And if you don’t make the decision, your priorities will decide for you. You or necessity fluctuates what priority will be #1. You might have a big project at work that makes you work late. Your child may be sick requiring you to work from home. Or you might have chosen to have loads of friends over to celebrate Labor Day instead of organizing your garage. And that’s okay since it’s too hot to organize a garage right now anyway.
Our lives become seriously out of balance when we keep a priority in the #1 spot way too long. Maybe your travel for work is excessive cutting out time with family, friends or even the treadmill. Any available free time you have is spent on hobbies & never on the upkeep of your home. Fluctuating balance in your life means frequently rotating priorities through the #1 position. It’s like your friend who is able to make everyone feel they are the most important person. If you are fluctuating balance in your life, then each area of your life will feel constantly attended to, nurtured & respected.
So I’m here to help as I mentioned in last month’s newsletter by disclosing my knowledge of how to organize. I will show you how to fluctuate balance in your life through posts on the Styled & Organized Living Facebook page,@StyledOrganized on Twitter & the Styled & Organized Living Pinterest page. Some posts will be simple tools while others will be ideas to consider. But all will show you how to gain a little more control over your life through organization because Life is Better Organized!
