Unorganized Priorities
September 4, 2012Turn The Out of Towners into The Blue Lagoon
October 1, 2012You may have noticed that I didn’t post a blog last Monday. I didn’t even post a daily tip! Tuesday’s daily tip went unnoticed as well. And after the previous week’s blog about “Unorganized Priorities” & how to make sure they’re straight, you’re probably wondering where my priorities actually were.
Wednesday morning when I posted that day’s daily tip, I was wondering the same thing. How could a Professional Organizer who helps other people everyday completely miss doing something I look forward to & love. My blog & daily tips are something I am always thinking about. When I’m getting dressed. When I’m helping a client organize. When I’m running my errands. When someone asks for advice. When I’m grocery shopping. When…..well, whenever! I’m always thinking about a tip or idea that could help you be organized because life is better that way.
So how could I have possibly missed writing that blog or posting at least a daily tip? I have areally good reason. It wasn’t because I had suddenly become disorganized, in the first stages of love when you kind of loose your mind or hospitalized. I forgot all about last week’s blog & daily tips because I was leaving Friday to see my Aunt Ruthie.
You see, I haven’t seen her since I was 4 months old. My father’s family is from Delaware. That 2nd to the smallest, first state in the union, on the coast state. Joe Biden is from Delaware. It’s on the map. My dad’s older sister, Ruth Ann, went to Delaware University, studied German as that is the family heritage & received a fellowship to study German in Germany. That’s a long way away & back before skype, face time or even Facebook. That’s back when you wrote a letter & waited for weeks or a month for it to be delivered & then weeks or a month for a reply. Ruth Ann & I did correspond my last years in high school & during college as I also took German. She was my German pen pal. Then, when my father passed away 14 years ago, we lost touch.
Over a year ago I Googled Ruth Ann. A tentative email went out to see if she in fact was my Aunt Ruthie. Success! The ball slowly started rolling for her to visit the US….well Delaware to see family & friends. As it approached, it became more real & exciting. Then all of a sudden, the week was upon me. I could hardly think of how people could be organized. Questions I had for Ruth Ann swirled in my head pushing out thoughts of organization. I worried if we would have a connection, things to talk about or if she would even recognize me…..I had changed a lot since 4 months old.
Nothing to worry about. She spotted me right off. Said I was the spitting image of my father. We exchanged gifts representing our countries. Her’s from Deutschland. Mine from Texas. I resurrected the little German I remember. Guten Tag! Wie geht es Ihnen? And then the building of a relationship began.
So you see, I have a really good reason for missing last week’s blog & Tuesday’s daily tip; family. Life is Better Organized so you can be sure to keep, build & nurture family relationships. After all, aren’t relationships what this time on earth is all about? Auf Wiedersehen!
