Easter Dinner
April 9, 2012Get Organized for Summer
May 21, 2012Each day we are bombarded with advertisements enticing us to purchase the newest clothes, toys, furniture, tools, etc. And if the lure of something new doesn’t pull you to shop, there is always a bargain to be had.
After looking past all the Sunday sale ads yesterday, the Dallas Morning News Parade article, “Is Your Stuff Weighing You Down?” caught my attention. The author, Anna Quindlen, confessed to being a pack rat, and offered help to overcoming Peter Walsh’s favorite cry of “Too much stuff!”
Really, all Organizational Guru’s will tell you getting organized all comes down to letting go of the excess. Sounds so easy! But, we all know if can be so very hard. Having time, making the time or just wanting to take the time are some of the biggest factors that get in our way. Then there’s the decision making; what goes & what stays? You’ve worked so hard to acquire everything you have or it has sentimental value.
Maya Angelou said, “Home is a refuge, not only from the world but a refuge from my worries, my terrible concerns. I like beautiful things around me. I like to be beautiful, because it delights my eyes and my soul is lifted up.” Is your home a refuge? If not, ask yourself these questions to help you decide what should go.
1. What stuff keeps your home from being a refuge?
2.What stuff keeps your home from being beautiful?
3.What stuff keeps your home from lifting up your soul?
Donate, give to family/friends or sell those things that need to leave your home. You’ll be amazed at the huge weight lifted off your shoulders.
What stuff did you let go of to create your refuge?
