And they’re coming down the stretch neck-n-neck!  It’s incredibly close! Who will win?  Will it be Over Achiever Parent, Disorganized Parent, PTA Parent or Career Parent?!

Does your school year already feel like the last stretch of a horse race?  Even best made plans can been thrown off track with over scheduling, under planning or the unforeseen.  September is National Preparedness Month.  Technically, it’s to prepare you and your family for a natural disasters like tornados or hurricanes, but when you have kids, any day can feel like a natural disaster just hit.

With about a week of school under your belt depending on where you live, it’s time to regroup.  You may have carefully laid out school, sports, church & family schedules to eliminate conflicts but forgot to add in work or cross-check between kids.  The school supplies were carefully chosen but now aren’t cool.  With the frantic rush between activities, your home looks like it was ransacked.

Time to call out a, “Whoa Nelly!”.  Pull hard on the reins of life.  Assess the damage. Triage your home, car & schedule.  Find weak spots.  Revise the game plan.  Start back at a trot.

It’s up to you pull up on the reins of life but your whole family has to be involved in the triage, finding weak spots & revising the game plan.  A horse doesn’t win a race alone.  It takes the jockey, trainer, stables, owner, investor & lots of carrots.  Gather your team.  Together, you can be prepared for the rest of the school year…..or at least till the first break.
