August 5, 2013Why Did God Make Moms?
August 19, 2013Who doesn’t love hosting a party. If you’re groaning about the thought then an impromptu party is just for you. Why? Well just think about it, an impromptu party gives you all the fun of having friends & family in your home, the visiting, laughing, sharing stories, creating new memories, but without the long planning & worry. Things either fall into place or they don’t. And if they don’t, no one is judging because it’s last minute. It actually gives you an opportunity to shine. After all, anything slightly special you pull off will make you look like Martha Stewart’s on steroids.
So here’s how you do it:
1. THE IDEA: A friend drops by Saturday afternoon & tells you some exciting news i.e., they just earned their CPO® designation & want to pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate but just haven’t had a chance. The light bulb goes off in your head to do the popping for her at your home.
2.THE PLAN: You take the opportunity while she takes a phone call to steal away to your laundry room with your cohort & in whispers state your idea & determine to host an impromptu party just 20 hours away. A short timeline & guest list is KEY.
3.THE PREP-DAY BEFORE: Send out quick Evite. Scour your home for forgotten fun napkins that say “Life is Short Buy the Shoes”, cool, gold, bamboo flatware, champagne flutes hardly used, china, bucket for icing down champagne, champagne, cake mix, frosting & refrigerated pie crust. Make a run to the grocery store for missing items. Bake cake. Refrigerate champagne
4. THE PREP-DAY OF: Run vacuum, make Alfred Hitchcock’s fabulous quiche, ice cake, layout table: quiche, , olives, block of parmesan, crackers, fruit salad, homemade cake, champagne, mini bundts out of freezer. Put on your party dress or fun summer pants with bright top or shoes.
5.ENJOY: You have just pulled off a fabulous party with little stress or worry, everyone had a fabulous time & the guest of honor felt really honored without all the fuss.
Since there is so little time between deciding to & having an impromptu party, there is little time for anyone to fret & worry with decisions like what to wear, what to serve or who to invite. Instead, guests are amazed by your ingenious, craftiness while really enjoying the celebration. What impromptu party have you hosted & what was your secret for success?
