Serving friends and family in your home is one of the most rewarding tasks. Having a fabulously organized kitchen they admire while you are serving them makes all the hard work worth it.
1. Locate Plates/Bowls/Serving Pieces near the dishwasher or near the table. I like near the table so kids or guests can set the table without getting in the way.
- EDIT: Anything the kids have outgrown like sectioned plates.
- TRUTH: Seasonal dishes have no place in your kitchen until that season. Store these on top shelves of out–of–the–way closets.
- SECRET: Maximize vertical space over plates or bowls with a cabinet shelf.
2. Locate Flatware/Serving Flatware in drawers below plates/bowls/serving pieces so it’s a one–stop–shop for setting the table.
- EDIT: Random pieces that are mis-matched to the rest.
- TRUTH: Keeping all your serving flatware together is an easy way to get people to help you in the kitchen.
- SECRECT: The same drawer organizers will help keep flatware at ready status.
This isn’t a complete list but focuses on the essentially hard items to locate in a kitchen. The SO List solves the questions of where do you start, what do you place first, and what do you place next? Since kitchens are lacking and have enough drawers, lower drawers or just space in general, placing your items based on the order of the SO List will help make those hard choices much easier.
