Make Moving Easy: Packing
July 21, 2014Back to School
August 4, 2014When it’s time to unpack the contents of your home, there are a few methods that will make the unpacking easier. Having a game plan for your team keeps everyone motivated because they’ll know what to do & what to expect.
1. BE AVAILABLE Everyone should be available to the movers directing where items should go in your new home. School age kids can help with this.
2. RECYCLE Have movers take away as much packing material as possible. Schedule a time for them to come back for the rest.
3. UNLOAD Once the movers are finished, unload your car of your necessities. Make the beds, layout towels/toiletries, unpack luggage & set up a coffee/drink/food station in the kitchen. When you need a shower, food, a cold drink or coffee & finally collapse in your made bed, you’ll thank yourself.
4. UNPACK Start with essential rooms first; laundry room, kids play & bedrooms, bathrooms. Shelf/drawer liner is a good thing to add to all cabinetry but can be added after the essentials are unpacked. Moving items from one drawer or shelf to place liner is much easier than waiting & waiting & waiting for this to get done.
5. FINE-TUNE As you unpack, collect decor items & picture/paintings in one location i.e. dining room that is out of the way. Designate a time at a later date to hang art & place decor items.
