Organizer’s Heaven
April 15, 2013NAPO Conference: What I Learned Part 2
April 29, 2013The NAPO 2013 Annual Conference in New Orleans was amazing! Not only was it the 25th Anniversary of the National Association of Professional Organizers, but also a fabulous opportunity for me to meet other knowledgeable Professional Organizers from across the nation and around the world.
At this year’s conference, I learned several things about my industry, organizing and myself that make me proud & inspire me.
1. During the “Ask the Organizer” session where questions were asked to the top organizers in the industry, I learned that the answer to why each organizer loves what they do was the same; helping people organize their lives is fulfilling. I concur!
2.During the NAPO 2013 Conference Awards ceremony, I learned that we not only take notice of leaders in our industry for their contributions, but also leaders in other industries. We gave an Award of Excellence to ARNO, Animal Rescue of New Orleans, started in the wake of Katrina to help pets left behind find new forever homes. We also gave an Award of Excellence to the Wound Warrior Project started in 2002 to help rebuild the lives of those who give so much for their country. Both organizations positively affect lives. Both organizations use simple organizing methods & tools to run efficiently so every penny’s value is realized.
3.During the Leadership Forum, I learned that our industry leaders are more than willing to share ideas, information & advice so that we can all have thriving Chapters educating the public about how we help our clients & our communities.
