Tis the time of year filled with wonder and cheer.
Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza or what you hold dear,
The season for giving, for loving, for sharing
Our hopes in the season made for much caring.
With so much to get done while days become shorter,
How do we do it without messes and disorder?
There’a a man I know; you know him too.
He’s jolly and plump with reindeer and elf crew.
He brings us all joy with his gifts and his wish
“To all a good night and a very Merry Christmas.”
But how does he do it, deliver gifts to the world?
Racing sleigh through the night before dawn is unfurled?
No — that is not all; it takes more than that.
St. Nick needs efficiency. He must be exact.
He watches all year and sees who is nice.
He plans each gift and checks his list twice.
He plans out his route so no one is missed.
He packs his sack full in accordance with the list.
And when he gets home, he takes a day away,
Then starts the plan over for the next Christmas day.
