Five Main Steps to Organization
October 7, 2013Organize Space Creatively
October 21, 2013Finally, there are endless way to purchase attractive bins, boxes & other organizational tools at reasonable prices. The Container Store opened their doors in Dallas on Preston/Forest over 35 years ago. Before that, good luck finding containers at all. And, it has been a slow progression going from nothing, lots of containers, attractive containers and now affordable, attractive containers. I think it must be similar to moving from an out-house to indoor plumbing. But then, I’m an organizer.
You might wonder why I’m a little overly excited about this container thing. You see,all your hard work organizing a space can get lost in the clutter of mismatched bins.
We’ve all seen the before pictures in magazines & on TV shows of clutter everywhere. Then the after pictures where everything is organized. Yes, they did spend time grouping like things together & editing what would be stored in the space. Then they used like containers to store the remaining items. Imagine if a desk had several different types of magazine holders. It would be organized but feel very cluttered because there are too many different factors for your eye; shape, color, style, material, size, etc.
To really make your hard work shine, use like as well as complimentary containers. They don’t have to be exactly the same. Follow one of these rules.
1.Same container but different colors – see top photo
2.Same container but different sizes
3.Same color but different styles
4.Same color family but different all together
Buying all new containers might not be an option for you. Instead, collect all containers throughout your home. You will be amazed at the amount of matching bins waiting to be discovered. Reallocate containers you already have to properly finish your organizing project.
Matching containers are the finishing touch to a truly de-cluttered space. Why not create your own masterpiece of organization?
