Many of us have probably developed some bad habits since we have grown and flown from the nest, and we may need to refresh our organizing skills from time to time, but we have Mom to thank for laying the groundwork for us to be tidy individuals. In honor of all the Mom’s out there on Mother’s Day this year, let’s take a look at all the wonderful ways they have taught us how to stay organized.
- Don’t throw your clothes on the floor! Put them in the hamper…or better yet, do a load of your own laundry and fold it, too!
- Put your dishes in the dishwasher….don’t just leave them around the house and expect me to pick them up for you.
- Wipe down the sink when you are done brushing your teeth and washing your face (you have been brushing twice daily, haven’t you?)
- Go through your backpack everyday. Always, always do your homework and turn it in on time.
- Make your bed everyday. It’s much nicer getting into a well made bed every night, rather than a messy one. And, let’s face it, your room will just look more put together.
- Please put your board games away when you are finished playing. No, it should not take a whole month to finish that game of Monopoly!
- It’s trash night…go empty all of the trash and take it out to the curb for pickup. You are a member of this family, and I shouldn’t have to pay an allowance for helping out around here with the easy stuff.
As you are wishing your amazing Mom a Happy Mother’s Day this year, be sure to thank her for teaching you how to stay on top of things! After all, if it weren’t for all of the nagging, would you be the successful, organized person you are today?!
