Why Guys with Less Stuff are Happier
September 21, 20155 Ways to Find Space in Your Kitchen
October 5, 2015It was 3AM and I had just had an epic night with girls I have known a very long time; one since 7th grade! Our parents always told us nothing good every happened after midnight but I think that is just because they were tired and wanted to go to bed. At 10PM, the night just got going.
There is little I have not experienced with the 11 girls who are in The Group. Some of us have known each other since elementary school while some of us didn’t meet until 11th grade when we all moved to Plano East for our last two years at the senior high. Average days, boring days, hilarious days, bold days, long days, drill team days, celebration days, sad days, anxiety days, confident days, unsure days & epic days have all been shared together. There are pictures deep in scrapbooks to prove this. Thank goodness there wasn’t Facebook!
Four years ago, our Camp Counselor in the group suggested we all take a “Turning 40” birthday trip to celebrate the big event. Who else would we want to celebrate this milestone with us after all. We did. It was epic. We have the pictures to prove it. They are on Facebook…the appropriate ones.
Our times together are more spaced apart now. Not everyone in The Group is able to attend all gatherings. We talk about whomever is missing, share our latest stories (like having to run into Walmart for an emergency wearing temporary manicure flip-flops that fall apart & not daring to let your feet touch that floor, then walking out with plastic bags on your feet but with your dignity & LV bag on your shoulder) sad stories, stressful stories, successes like a first employee or launching your own beauty line.
Saturday was epic not because we did anything stupid or crazy–well maybe a little crazy–but because we walked down Memory Lane telling stories, flipping though the yearbook & looking at pictures after catching up on current news. Reliving your youth keeps you young & young at heart. It hits your reset button. It reminds you of you.
