Sunday night was the biggest night for fashion! Some may say the New York and Paris fashion shows are the biggest events for fashion, but I disagree. No fashion event is watched more by the public en-mass than the Oscars. From the start of the red carpet until finally Best Picture, the last Oscar is given, we all sideline critique each celebrity.
I watched with seven other women, one being furry, four-legged and one an Australian first-timer — and the furry, four-legged female can’t be excluded — over amazing food & wine. We all had something to say about each new tuxedo and gown that graced the screen. There were some catty moments to be sure but our catty comments were more about how the dress sadly didn’t enhance their beauty either in the color or cut of the gown.
The highlights from the night that make us continue to love Oscar’s fashions are:
- PINK No matter the intensity, it was beautiful and strong at the same time.
- Angela Bassett’s hot pink, body hugging Reem Acra dress was stunning.
- Gemma Chan’s pink, floaty Valentino dress was equally impactful.
- DARING From the strong shoulder ruffles to the giant, asymmetrical bows, women were choosing to be bold with their silhouette.
- Jennifer Hudson’s red, one shoulder ruffle running down the skirt of her Elie Saab dress was flirty & fun.
- KiKi Layne’s soft pink column Versace with giant ruffle on back was pure drama.
- GLAMOROUS MATURITY No longer do women of an older age have to wear dowdy gowns. They can choose classic designs that still pack a punch.
- Glenn Close wore a Carolina Herrera gold, super woman cape!
- Helen Mirren made chiffon look fun, dreamy and youthful in fuchsia Schiaparelli.
- GODDESS STYLE Then there were those whose dress matched their unique personality and could only be worn by them. They wore the dress. The dress didn’t wear them.
- Regina King was a queen in her royal, white, de la Renta gown.
- Charlize Theron was old Hollywood glamour in her sky blue Dior with Bulgari diamonds.
- Awkwafina was commanding yet feminine in a soft pink, sequined DSquared pant suit.
- Jennifer Lopez in a Tom Ford mirror dress made my mouth drop open. WOW!
So how do you translate this to your closet for the rest of the year?
Bring out your Goddess self by finally wearing that outfit, those purple booties, the wrap you know is perfect for many Texas days and nights. You had a vision when you bought it but now are too afraid to wear it. Or worse yet, you’re saving it for something — you don’t know what. If you leave it in your closet, the rest of us can’t enjoy seeing you confident in it. Stop hiding under a bushel. It’s time to love yourself by being yourself. If you need help with the bushel, just give us a call.

I started organizing from a very early age. As a teenager, I tried very hard to have a messy room but only ended up having messy piles that were neatly arranged. Later in life, my friends started asking me to help them organize their closets, homes, garages, etc. It's something I love to do!
Now, I have started a Professional Organizing business to do what I love to do everyday and at the same time help people take control of their lives and spaces.
