2014 Fall Fashion Trends: Get the Look
September 29, 2014Time to Pay the Piper
October 13, 2014Are you ready for the cold?
My doctor & long time family friend said over lunch that he knows exactly what to do to get your wardrobe ready for winter. First, you take everything out of the closet & trash the stuff you don’t like. Second, you paint the walls & paper the shelves (This is actually good advice). Third, you stuff it all back into the closet throwing the trash you couldn’t purge to the back. This from a man who won’t let me near his desk stacked high with piles of paper because I might disturb his “filing” system.
Ay carumba!
After relishing the new, beautiful fall fashions & showing how I found them in my very own wardrobe, that plan makes me shudder. Care & attention get you closer to a runway look than throwing & stuffing.
•Love Your Closet? reveals 5 ways to prepare your wardrobe for fall. It’s a little as my doctor friend says, but without throwing anything into your closet. Throwing is not loving.
What he forgot in his instructions, was scheduling time. Blocking out time on your calendar to show some love to those items that make you look so good every day is a must.
•Wardrobe Love Begins when you make a commitment of time to address the issue & face the explosion of clothes tumbling out of your closet. You loved that dress in the store. Why not love it all over again?
The good doctor did have the sorting down pat; keep, donate, & I’ll add in sell.
•Wardrobe Love Continues when you make the hard editing decisions. Keep only those clothes that gain you complements.
Lastly, make it work…..without throwing & stuffing.
•Really look at the space you have available. How is it laid out? What tools are built-in? Do you like to hang or fold? Work with your tools & preferences. Wardrobe Love Accomplished!
