May 12, 2014Memorial Day
May 26, 2014A week from tomorrow I board a Southwest Airlines flight to Phoenix. It’s time for Professional Organizers from around the world to unite at our annual conference about …organizing.
At last year’s conference I learned that only 10% of the world’s population find organizing easy naturally. But that equates to only 71 million who can organize their things and manage their time. Are you considering right about now that you are one of the 10%? (Or are you more prone to deciding after watching Hoarders: Buried Alivethat you’re a hoarder?) Well, here’s how you know you need to come out of the closet (organizationally speaking) and admit to being naturally organized.
1.You get excited when Post-It releases a new size/shape/color of Post-Its
2.You can spend hours browsing office supply stores, fantasizing about how you could use the array of colored file folders, markers, index cards . . .
3.You text your friends about a new bin you found with what you consider perfect dimensions
4.You feel slightly inadequate when someone else points out a clever way of organizing…… well….anything, AND. . . .
5.You look forward all year to spending 4 days with as many Professional Organizers as possible learning anything you can about organizing
Five “yes” answers, especially if spoken with excited emphasis, marks you clearly as an Organizer. Fewer than 4 “yeses” means you’re a “Wanna Be.” One “yes” means you are—umm—Tidy.
If you didn’t pass the test, you might be among the 90%—that amounts to 639 million of you out there—who are drowning in clutter & lost time. Don’t despair. It’s okay. We are here, not to judge your lack of organizing skills, but to help & teach those skills to you. So stay tuned for the 2nd Annual Professional Organizer Conference blogs in June.
I’m always here to help you by disclosing my knowledge of how to organize & be prepared for any situation. I will show you tips & tricks through posts on the Styled & Organized Living Facebook page, @StyledOrganized on Twitter & the Styled & Organized Living Pinterest page. Some posts will be simple tools while others will be ideas to consider. But all will show you how to gain a little more control over your life through organization because Life is Better Organized!
