It’s amazing how you get yourself so involved in the day to day of life.  Sometimes, a Sunday can help pull your head above water so you are able to rest & refresh your mind.  Other times, you need a long weekend.  Every now & then, a complete get away from everything you know is required to remove the haze & daze of everyday troubles, business & stress.  It gives you clarity. It focuses your eye on what is important.

My recent trip to Italy did just that.  I went to study how the Old World handled storing their possessions as well as to learn fashion trends of the home, workplace & personal.  My confession is that I went assuming they had nothing to teach me.  After all, we have The Container Store, Rubbermaid & Tupperware.  Not only that, I’m from Dallas where The Container store started.   What could a country without these modern contributions to the storage industry contribute to my knowledge?

All around me were creative ways to store & organize.  But, being that I was in Italy, everything was stored or organized stylishly.  The mix of Old World & modern was seamless from architecture, interior design, fashion, food to street vendors.  They are masters of recycling & repurposing.  Even their public bins for recycling & collecting rubbish on the streets were sleek & sophisticated.

I went to Italy expecting to impart my wisdom but learned from the Italians at every turn. My eyes were opened to the stylishly, creative organization of Italy.
