Organizing Could Save You $1.8 Million

It’s true….at least for a couple in Lousiana.  They were organizing their home to make it ready for Thanksgiving guests when they came across a forgotten lottery ticket. It was set to expire in 2 weeks.  I’m sure they were thankful for Thanksgiving falling when it did!   I see this happen a lot.  Maybe not the $1.8 million, but I have found quite a bit of money in different forms during my 9 years of organizingwith clients.  Here are just a few:

Thankful for Holiday Traditions

Most of the fun of any holiday season involves the holiday traditions you create with family and friends.  They can be classic, dorky, traditional, silly, unusual, new, out-of-the-box or even strange but they are yours.  They feel like old friends.  Holidays just aren’t the same without them.  Even if you are The Groaner in the group, you would miss those traditions if you skipped them.

Thankfully Scheduled

A weekend getaway with family is always a thankful respite.  Baylor University played Iowa State University in Iowa where my two youngest nieces attend school.  It was bitterly cold, windy & my team didn’t win, but the memories we made are priceless.

Thankfully Organized

People often ask me how I got my organizing skill.  Here’s the truth.  Those of us who have the gift of organization naturally see patterns.  Patterns help us see all the ways to group items.  Understanding how to group creates clarity.  Clarity helps you prioritize possessions into spaces or To Do's on a calendar.  Those priorities become the patterns on your calendar, planning how to run your errands, how to organize a space/home/office, how to manage a project or just how to get through your To Do list.

A Professional Organizer Just Might Save Your Sanity

Today, I received a call from a mom with two small kids and one on the way.  Her comment is one I hear a lot:  “I used to be able to keep up with all the stuff before the kids!”  When kids & life comes along, it creates more stuff for us to manage.  It can get overwhelming!

Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

On a return flight from Denver to help a client set-up her new home, I took time to watch the Fred Rogers, Mr. Rogers, documentary.  Boy, do you need a box of tissues for this one!  I kept thinking, oh I remember that, about really everything.  From the Trolley, to the puppets and that iconic sweater and sneakers, I remember everything about his show.  I could even sing along to his theme song he sang as he came in his front door.
